Biography

Senior Season — 2016-17
Scherman registered a winning record for a third straight year, posting a 7-5 mark while exclusively competing at the No. 2 position. She qualified for the College Squash Association National Individual Championships for a fourth time, advancing to the quarterfinals of the Holleran West bracket. She finished the year 33rd in the CSA's year-end national individual rankings, marking a fourth straight year she's been in the top 50. Serving as a co-captain alongside classmate Sydney Francis, Scherman had victories in some of the team's matches against teams above the Big Red in the national rankings, including Columbia, Princeton and Stanford.

Junior Season — 2015-16
Scherman posted a 9-9 record and finished the season ranked 27th in the country by the College Squash Association, which was highest among Big Red competitors. She primarily competed at the No. 2 position, but also spelled Michèle Garceau for two matches at the No. 1 spot. Scherman emerged with three victories among her five matches that went to five sets, including a come-from-behind triumph against an opponent from Columbia in the seventh-place match of the Howe Cup. Scherman then went on to compete at the CSA National Individual Championships, where she advanced as far as the semifinals of the Holleran (A) Division. At the team's postseason banquet, Scherman was named a co-captain for the 2016-17 season.

Sophomore Season — 2014-15
Scherman was named the Big Red's Most Improved Player, posting a 10-7 record with all of her matches coming on showcase courts. All but three of her appearances came from the No. 3 spot in the lineup, and she ended the season ranked 28th in the country by the College Squash Association. Scherman won her first five matches of the season, which included her first two of three Ivy League victories on the season. She was just one of three Big Red competitors to win two matches at the Howe Cup, rallying to defeat Columbia's Catherine Jenkins in five sets in the consolation semifinals before holding off Yale's Issey Norman-Ross in four sets the next day in the consolation finals. Scherman earned a berth into the top-flight Ramsay Division of the CSA Individual Championships, where she suffered a pair of five-set losses to opponents from Princeton and Yale.

Freshman Season — 2013-14
Scherman posted a 5-10 record, competing at the Nos. 3, 4 and 5 positions in the lineup — the highest among the Big Red's freshmen. She was 2-5 in Ivy League matches, with both victories coming as part of a four-match winning streak to start her collegiate career. After three-game victories in Nov. 23 matches against Drexel and Stanford, Scherman went to four games to top Columbia's Maya Patel at No. 5 on Dec. 7, then swept Brown's Emily Richmond at No. 3 on Jan. 11. Scherman then competed in the prestigious College Squash Association Individual Championships at season's end, advancing to the semifinals of the Holleran Division (for seeds 33-80) before falling to eventual champion Shiyuan Mao in a marathon five-game match. Scherman finished the season ranked 45th in the nation by the CSA, which was third-highest among Big Red competitors.
