Biography
As a junior (2019-20)
• Raced at six meets for the Big Red throughout her junior campaign.
• Made the B Final of the 200-butterfly at Akron’s Zippy Invitational, placing 12th overall in 2:09.34 after notching a season-best time (2:08.46) in prelims.
• Posted season-bests in the 100-breaststroke (1:07.82) and 200-breaststroke (2:24.56) against Columbia.
• Finished third in the 200-butterfly against St. Bonaventure, helping Cornell to the team victory.
As a sophomore (2018-19)
• Competed in the 100 breast and 100 fly at the Ivy League Championship.
• Runner-up in the 500 free vs. Bryant.
• Took third in the 200 IM against Bryant and the 100 fly against St. Bonaventure.
• Placed in three of the four events she swam in at the Bomber/Ithaca Winter Invitational, including fourth in both the 100 and 200 fly.
• Posted two personal best times.
As a freshman (2017-18)
• Made the Ivy League Championship lineup, scoring in both the 100 and 200 breast.
• Took 21st in the 100 (1:08.49) and 23rd in the 200 (2:24.54)
• Finished fourth against Brown in the 100 breast.
Prior to Cornell
• Morikawa was a three-year all-state and two-year All-America swimmer at Weston HS.
• Set sectional records in the 100 fly and 200 medley relay.
• Three-time all-conference and two-time conference MVP.
• Earned a Connecticut Swimming Top 16 Award five times.
• Was a YMCA All-American three seasons while swimming for Chelsea Piers Aquatic Club.
• Part of a team that won the 2017 Short Course Speedo Nationals.
Personal
• Carolyn Kelsey Morikawa is the daughter of Curtis Morikawa and Diane Lynch and has an older and younger brother.
• She is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
