At Cornell
Two-time All-America and Big 12 champion swimmer Carlye Ellis joined the Cornell women's swimming and diving staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2015-16 season.
In just three seasons, Ellis has helped Cornell swimmers have rewrite the school's record book. Cornell has set 10 individual school record and posted 70 times that rank among the top 10 all-time fastest swims along with three relay records and 22 other times that have joined the list.
During her time on East Hill, Cornell is 6-1 in non-conference dual meets and placed seventh at the conference meet three times, matching the program's highest finish since 2010.
Prior to Cornell
Ellis spent two years as a graduate assistant swimming coach for both the men's and women's programs at Valparaiso, helping the teams break more than two dozen school records during her time there. She assisted in all facets of the program, from scheduling and recruiting to practice planning and meet preparation while earning her Master's degree in Sports Administration.
Just prior to joining the staff at Valparaiso, Ellis coached at Nitro Swimming in Austin. At Nitro, she was an assistant coach for the national, sectional, and TAGS groups where she worked with nationally ranked swimmers who competed at the Olympic Trials, World Junior Championships, Senior and Junior National championships.
Swimming Career
A four-year letter winner at Texas, she was part of school record-setting 200 and 400 medley relay teams. During her four seasons, the Longhorns finished as high as fifth at the NCAA championships, and her teams won Big 12 titles as a sophomore and senior.
Ellis was a 15-times NISCA All-American and part of three U.S. High School national champion teams at Ann Arbor Pioneer HS. A three-time state champion, she was a 16-time all-state selection and set state records in the 100 breast and as part of the school’s 200 medley relay.
Personal
Ellis graduated in 2011 with a degree in Communication Studies before receiving her master’s degree in Sport Administration in 2015. She resides in Ithaca.
