At Cornell
In his first season with the Big Red, Santos developed two NCAA Zone qualifying divers in Soodong Kim '25 and Elise Jendritz '24. Jendritz went on to dive for the second-best one-meter dive in Big Red history, earning 265.15 points. His second season on East Hill saw four divers qualify for the NCAA Zone A Championship in Brooke Andrews '27, Morgan Ogata '27, Kim, and Matthew Warren '24. With Santos' guidance, Kim put himself on the top 10 all-time list with 271.85 points in the three-meter dive.
Prior to Cornell
Santos has a combined 14 years as a Diving coach. He first began coaching in 2008 at High Dive Champions in Purchase, N.Y. There, he gained professional development with Olympic Coach Dick Kimball. He then went to Vassar College where he coached for two years before going to New Jersey Institute of Technology in 2018 before finally ending up at the University of Pittsburgh. He stayed there for two years as a volunteer coach for the varsity team as well as the Head Diving Coach of the Diving Club.
Throughout his career, Santos has cultivated an impressive portfolio. In 2014, he graduated from Marist College with a master’s in Educational Psychology. He has extensive knowledge in water belt spotting, trampoline spotting and strength and conditioning exercises. He is well knowledgeable in stretching and mobility. Santos also has experience in business media and marketing.
