Biography
As a sophomore (2019-20)
• Competed at eight meets for the Big Red as a sophomore, including the Ivy League Championships.
• Raced in the 200-freestyle, 500-freestyle, and 1000-freestyle at Ivies, scoring points in the 500-freestyle with a 24th place finish.
• Her preliminary 500-freestyle time (5:00.63), as well as her 1000-freestyle mark (10:23.68), at the conference meet were lifetime personal-bests.
• Recorded a lifetime personal-best in the 1650-freestyle at Akron’s Zippy Invitational, finishing 15th in 17:32.40.
• Notched season-bests in the 50-freestyle (24.83) and 100-freestyle (52.36) at the Zippy Invitational.
• Posted a pair of top-five individual finishes in the Big Red’s victory over St. Bonaventure, placing fourth in the 200-freestyle and fifth in the 500-freestyle.
• Finished fifth in the 500-freestyle in Cornell’s win over Binghamton.
As a freshman (2018-19)
• Earned 22nd in the 200 free finals at the Ivy League Championships.
• Achieved three personal best times.
• Placed third in the 50 free against St. Bonaventure, and in the 500 free against Columbia.
• Finished fourth in the 100 free vs. Bryant, in the 500 free vs. Yale and in the 200 free against Columbia.
• Placed in three of the four events she competed in at the Bomber/Ithaca Winter Invitational.
Prior to Cornell
• Maizes was part of a state championship 200 medley relay team as a senior at Union County Academy for Allied Health Sciences.
• Won a county title in the 500 free, 200 free relay and 400 free relay, along with a second place finish in the 200 free, in 2018.
• Part of a 200 and 400 free relay teams that won county titles her junior year, as well as finishing second individually in the 100 and 200 free.
• Three-time state qualifier.
• Helped team to a state title in 2015, as well as four county championships and two sectional crowns.
• Took 13th in the 100 free at the 2017 YMCA Long Course Nationals.
• Had top 10 national finishes in the 200 and 400 free relays at the 2018 YMCA Short Course Nationals, as well as in the 400 free at the 2017 event.
Personal
• Danielle Jessica Maizes is the daughter of Allen and Claire Maizes and has an older sister, as well as a twin sister.
• Her twin sister, Rachel, swims at the University of Pennsylvania.
• She is enrolled in the College of Human Ecology.
