As a senior (2018-19)

• Named the team's Swimming MVP.
• Established school records in the 100 and 200 back and as part of 400 medley relay.
• Graduated ranked in the top five all-time at Cornell in 200 IM (second), 50 free (third), 100 IM (third), 100 free (fourth) and 100 butterfly (fifth).
• Was third at the Ivy Championship in the 100 back.
• Also scored in the 200 IM (12th) and the 200 back (10th) at the conference meet.
• Topped the field in the 50 free and 100 back in a tri-meet with Harvard and Dartmouth.
• Captured three event titles (50 free, 100 back, 200 IM) against Penn and Princeton.
• Won titles in the 100 and 200 back and the 200 IM at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational.
• During the spring dual meet season, won three individual events and posted eight races in the top two.
• Named to the Academic All-Ivy team.
 

As a junior (2017-18)

• Named the team's swimming MVP.
• Made the A finals of the 100 back of the 2018 Ivy League Championship (54.98) with an NCAA B cut swim that also registered as the second-fastest time in school history.
• Swam on a school-record 400 medley relay team.
• Posted the second-fastest time in school history in the 200 back (2:00.40), good for 17th overall at the Ivy Championship.
• Her opening 100 free split of 50.73 was a career-low and ranks No. 4 all-time at Cornell as part of the third-fastest 400 free relay squad.
• Took 13th overall in the 200 IM in 2:02.61.
• Swam the leadoff leg of the 200 medley relay at the conference championship.
• Captured eight individual races at dual meets, including sweeping the 50 free and 200 back in the win over MIT.
• Won the 100 back, 200 back and 200 IM at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational.
• Touched first in both the 100 and 200 back at Columbia.
 

As a sophomore (2016-17)

• Anchored the school-record 400 free relay
• Posted the school’s second-fastest time in both the 100 (55.26) and 200 (2:00.72) backstroke events at the Ivy League Championships.
• Swam on relay teams that posted the second (200 free, 1:32.24) and third (400 medley, 3:44.43) fastest relay squads in school history at the Ivy meet.
• Placed 10th in the 100 back at the league meet.
• Won the 100 back against Columbia and the 50 free race at St. Bonaventure.
• Had four runner-up finishes in individual races during the year.
• Earned the team’s Hardest Worker award.
 

As a freshman (2015-16)

• Scored in four individual races at the 2016 Ivy League Championship meet,
• Placed 11th in the 100 back with a time of 55.61, just .04 off her career-best.
• Swam the fourth-fastest Cornell time in history in the 50 free with a 23.49.
• Led off the 400 medley relay race with a 55.89 split in the butterfly, a mark that is eighth all-time at Cornell.
• Scored in the 200 back with a time (2:01.84) that ranks sixth all-time at Cornell.
• Won four individual dual meet races during the season.
• Captured titles in the 100 and 200 back and led off four relay championship squads at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational.
• Had the team’s fastest time of the year in the 100 back and third-fastest in the 200 back, 50 free and 200 IM.
 

Prior to Cornell

• Won four district titles in three different strokes while attending Freedom HS.
• Hsu won the 100 back as a junior and senior, the 200 IM as a senior and the 100 free as a sophomore.
• Four-year state qualifier.
• Four-time team MVP, serving as captain her final two seasons.
• Also competed in golf, earning team MVP honors all four seasons.
• Won a district title and two league championships.
• Was a three-year regional and two-year state qualifier.
• Captained her final three seasons on the links.
 

Personal

• Helen Hsu is the daughter of Rick Hsu and Pei-Jung Lin.
• He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the SC Johnson College of Business.
