Biography
As a sophomore (2019-20)
• Made the B Final of the 200-freestyle at Akron’s Zippy Invitational, placing 15th overall in a season-best 1:52.80.
• Notched a lifetime personal-best in the 100-backstroke (1:00.73) at the Zippy Invitational, adding season-bests in the 50-freestyle (24.76), 100-freestyle (53.04), and 500-freestyle (5:12.99).
• Posted a top-five finish in the 1000-freestyle against St. Bonaventure, finishing fifth and helping Cornell to the team victory.
• Placed fifth in the 200-freestyle in the Big Red’s Ivy League dual against Yale.
As a freshman (2018-19)
• Competed in three events at the Ivy League Championship (100, 200 and 500 free).
• Won the 200 free with a time of 1:52.58 at the Bomber/Ithaca Winter Invitational.
• Runner-up in the 500 free versus St. Bonaventure.
• Placed third in the 200 free against Bryant.
• Finished fourth in the 100 free versus Columbia.
• Took fifth in the 100 free at the Bomber/Ithaca Winter Invitational and in the 200 free against Brown.
Prior to Cornell
• Redding was a three-time state champion while swimming at La Salle Academy.
• Holds school records in both the 100 and 200 free.
• Earned first-team all-state honors as a junior and senior, earning second-team all-state accolades as well in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
• Named a WPRI 12 News Hometown Hero as a senior.
• Three-year captain for Seacoast Swimming Association club.
• Named a New England Top 10 Swimmer in 2014, 2016 and 2017.
• Holds 11 individual team records,
• Named a New England USA Swimming Safe Sport Representative.
Personal
• Madalyn Jewel Redding is the daughter of Nolan and Lisa Redding and has a younger sister.
• She is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
