Biography
At Cornell:
Having proven herself to be a hard worker with incredible dedication and devotion to the team, Cirella looks to carry this energy into her senior season. As part of the team leadership group last year, she led the way and was the team’s fastest breaststroker in dual meets. Cirella also added depth to the Big Red medley relays. At the Ivies, she placed in both breaststroke events to score some crucial points for the team (1:09.18, 22nd; 2:30.62, 24th). As a sophomore, she placed 21st at the Ivy championships in the 100 breast with a personal college-best time of 1:08.64 and placed 20th in the 200 breast with a 2:28.72. In Cirella’s freshman year, she scored points for the team by placing 23rd in the 200 breast and 24th in the 100 breast, with the team’s third-fastest time of the season (1:10.55). Cirella is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
At Oak Knoll:
A graduate of Oak Knoll HS, Cirella swam on a club team for four years and was a USA Scholastic All-American in both 2003 and 2004.
Personal:
Mary C. Cirella is the daughter of Vincent and Barbara Cirella and has one older and one twin brother.
