Prior to Cornell
Melinda Spinella was a four-time letter winner at Venice High School. In 2008, she was honored with the team's Most Improved Award, and the following year she received the team's Academic Award. She was also a member of the Sarasota YMCA Sharks. As a member of the Sharks, she was three Long Course Senior Championship teams (2007, 2008, 2009) and a Short Course Senior Championship Team (2008). In 2009, the she received the 2009 Olympic Spirit Award for the YMCA National Team Champions.
Personal
Melinda Spinella is the daughter of Anthony and Diane Spinella, and she has one older brother. She is enrolled in the College of Engineering.
