Biography
As a senior (2017-18)
• Closed her career as arguably the school's greatest distance freestyler, setting Cornell records in the 1,000 and 1,650 free at the Ivy League Championship meet (already owned the record in the 500 free).
• Took down Helen Barfield's 25-year-old school record in the mile, lowering the time by more than four seconds in placing fourth overall with a 16:39.83 - more than 22 seconds shaved from her personal best.
• Placed sixth at the Ivy meet in the 1,000 free in a school-record time of 9:58.63, becoming the first Cornellian to break the 10-minute barrier in the event.
• Led off the 800 free relay that set a school record in 7:25.27.
• Won the mile at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational.
• Took second in the 1,000 free in dual meets against both Brown and Columbia.
• Given the team's Overall Achievement Award at the postseason banquet.
As a junior (2016-17)
• Scored in the 500, 1,000 and 1,650 free races at the Ivy League Championship meet.
• Swam the second-fastest 1,000 free time ever at Cornell with a 10:06.99, good for 15th overall at the Ivy meet.
• Won the 500 free race against Columbia.
• Posted lifetime-best marks in the 1,000 and 1,650 free during the season.
As a sophomore (2015-16)
• Had a breakout sophomore season, shattering the school record in the 500 free and posting the second-fastest time in the 200 free.
• Placed eighth overall in the 500 free, making her first A final with a fast time of 4:48.67.
• That time was more than four seconds faster than teammate Currie Murch Elliot at the 2014 Ivy meet (4:52.79) and shaved more than six seconds off her career-best time.
• Won the C final in the 200 free with a time of 1:50.15, a mark that would have placed eighth overall in the A final.
• Swam leadoff for the 800 free relay that ad the second-fastest time ever at Cornell (7:30.90).
• Won the 200 free against Binghamton.
As a freshman (2014-15)
• One of the team’s most versatile performers who has swam the free, back, fly and IM.
• Won the 500 free in dual meets against Penn and Princeton, as well as Dartmouth and Harvard, and won the 100 back against Binghamton.
• Had top five season times in the 200 free, 100 and 200 back.
Prior to Cornell
• A two-time team MVP at Windsor HS, Luders was a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American in 2012.
• She was a four-time scholar-athlete selection and a four-time first-team all-league pick.
• Luders served as team captain her senior year.
Personal
• Micaela Destiny Luders is the daughter of Nicolas Luders and Thuy Hoang.
• He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the SC Johnson College of Business.
