Biography
As a sophomore (2016-17)
• Competed in six meets during the season, including against five Ivy League opponents.
• Was third in the 200 IM against St. Bonaventure.
• Posted career-best times in the 200 free, 500 free and 100 fly during the year.
As a freshman (2015-16)
• Swam time trials at the Ivy League Championship in the 200 breast and the 200 and 400 IM.
• Competed in six dual meet competitions with her best individual effort a second place in the 200 breast against Colgate.
• Had three top five finishes at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational, including a third place effort in the 400 IM.
Prior to Cornell
• Hansen was a multiple-time provincial champion in the 200 and 400 IM while attending Bishop Strachan School.
• She was a Canadian senior nationals qualifier in the 200 and 400 IM and the 200 breast.
• She was a four-time Iron Swimmer for most FINA points combined from the 1,500 free and the 400 IM.
• Earned a bronze medal in her age group nationals in the 200 and 400 IM, as well as the 100 free.
• Hansen served as team captain in 2014-15.
Personal
• Rachel Jennifer Hansen is the daughter of Mike and Cindy Hansen and has a younger sister.
• She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
