As a Junior (2017-18)
• CoSIDA Academic All-American Third Team
• CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team
• Second-Team All-Ivy (Steeplechase)
• Third all-time in the 3000 steeplechase (10:09.96).
• Ninth all-time in indoor DMR (11:32.68).
• Runner-up in the steeplechase at the Outdoor Heps in personal-record time (10:09.96).
• Fifth in the DMR at Indoor Heps (11:43.52) and ninth in the mile (5:01.16).
• ECAC Outdoor Champion in the steeplechase (10:16.40)
• Third in the mile at Indoor ECAC Championships (4:50.11).
• NCAA East Preliminary Qualifier in the steeplechase, taking 19th overall (10:16.43).
• Won five events during track season as well as 10 top-three finishes.
• Set additional personal-bests in the 1500 (4:28.35) at the Bison Outdoor Classic and the mile (4:50.10) in the prelims of the Indoor ECAC Championships.
• Was once again a top contributor during the cross country season, finishing as a top-five scorer for Cornell in five out of the six meets she ran in.
• Started out the year strong with an eighth-place finish in a quad meet along with Columbia, Brown and NYU.
• Followed that up with a 54th-place showing at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown while crossing the line 75th at the Paul Short Run.
• Then took 46th at the Penn State National Open and 27th at the Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships.
• Closed out her season placing 100th at the NCAA Northeast Regional.
As a Sophomore (2016-17)
• Continued her success in cross country as a sophomore and proved to be a valuable scoring runner for the Big Red, as she finished in Cornell's top five in four of the six meets she competed in.
• Began the season with a 23rd place finish at the Spiked Shoe Invitational and followed that up with a season-best seventh at the Yellowjacket Invitational.
• At the Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships, finished 47th and at the NCCA Northeast Regionals, finished 46th.
• Was once again one of the Big Red’s leaders in the mid distance and steeplechase events, capturing five wins during the season, including the 3000 meter steeplechase title at the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Championships.
• Also earned a spot in the NCAA East Preliminary Round in the steeplechase, ultimately placing 19th overall.
• Was dependent at the league championships, taking fifth in the mile and the 4x800 relay during the indoor season while finishing fourth in the steeplechase and seventh in the 4x800 relay at the outdoor championships.
• Time of 10:13.03 in the steeplechase at the Larry Ellis Invitational is the fourth-fastest time in Cornell history.
As a Freshman (2015-16)
• Had a stellar freshman season, beginning with an impressive cross country campaign.
• Finished in the top 15 in each of her first four meets, including a fourth-place finish at the Lehigh Paul Short Run and third at the Canisius Alumni Classic.
• At Ivy League Cross Country Championships, was 61st.
• Carried success onto the track, helping the 4x800 meter relay team to a win at the Cornell Indoor Upstate Challenge.
• Was runner-up in the 1000 at the Robert J. Kane Invitational and in the mile at the Marc Deneault Invitational.
• Also picked up a third-place finish in the 800 at the Marc Deneault Invitational.
• Qualified for Indoor ECAC Championships in the mile, placing 15th with a personal-best time of 4:57.55.
• Outdoors, was the Big Red's top competitor in the 3K steeplechase, never finishing outside the top 10 in the event during the regular season.
• Finished sixth at Ivy League Outdoor Heptagonals and seventh at ECAC Championships, with a personal best of 10:29.44.
• Also qualified for the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round, finishing 44th.
Before Cornell
• A relative newcomer to year-round distance running, Brumley had a terrific senior year, placing sixth in the California Division 2 state cross country meet and set personal bests of 2:14 for 800 and 4:54 for 1600 meters on the track.
• A two-time captain in both cross country and track, she led the cross country team to a league championship in 2014 and track to a league championship in 2015.
• She also holds the school record in the 800 meter with a time of 2:14.86.
Personal
• Briar Leigh Brumley is the daughter of David and Alison Brumley.
• She has an older sister, Whitney, and three younger sisters, Madeline, Katherine and Noelle.
• She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
