At Cornell
After missing all of the 2009 season with an injury, Schweighofer returns as one of the Ivy League's best all-around throwers. As a freshman, she immediately established herself as one of the top throwers in the Ivy League and in the East Region. With improvements in the shot put of nearly six feet and in the discus of nearly 30 feet, it is easy to see why she was named Cornell’s most outstanding freshman. Indoors in 2008, Schweighofer finished fifth in the shot put at the Heps with the fifth-best all-time performance at Cornell and was an ECAC qualifier. She also added the weight to her repertoire, throwing over 49 feet in her first year. Outdoors, she continued her outstanding throwing, as she finished second at the Penn Relays Collegiate discus in with a throw of 152’10". She finished third at the Heps with an NCAA Regional qualifier of 160’2", which ranks her third all-time at Cornell. With the injuries of 2009 behind her, look for Schweighofer to quickly regain her form and again be among the elite throwers.
Before Cornell
Schweighofer was a two-time state qualifier in both the shot and discus as well as a field hockey and basketball player for Honesdale.
