Genna Hartung ’13, a two-time All-American and captain for the Big Red, begins her fourth year as a volunteer assistant coach in 2018-19. Additionally she spent the last two years as a professional runner with the New Jersey*New York Track Club. A nationally competitive steeplechaser who is still competing as a post-collegiate professional runner, Hartung works with the women’s cross country team and middle distance and distance runners in track.  She’s also enrolled in Cornell’s Johnson Business School where she is pursuing her MBA

While an Athlete at Cornell
A tri-captain for Cornell’s 13th-place finishing cross country team at the 2012 NCAA Cross Country championships, Hartung was a two-time All-Ivy and two-time All-Northeast Region honoree as a harrier. She helped Cornell to Heptagonal cross country team championships in 2011 and 2012. The 2011 title was the first in 13 years for Cornell. On the track, Hartung won the 2012 ECAC Championship in the 3K steeplechase and was an All-American in the event in 2012 and 2013. Five times All-East on the track in the mile, 3000 and 3K steeplechase, Hartung is one of the most versatile and decorated middle distance and distance runners in Cornell school history and was an integral part of Cornell’s 2012 Indoor ECAC title, the first such championship by an Ivy League school.
