She also took part in the hammer throw at Penn Relays, placing 21st in the college division with a throw of 159' 8". Her outdoors success didn't end there, as she launched the hammer 179' 9" for second place and eight points for the Big Red in a distance that also broke the school record. At the Outdoor ECACs the following week, Rossi took eighth place to score a point for Cornell. Rossi's top indoor weight throw reached 55' 1/4", good for seventh in school history.
As a Junior (2010-11)
Rossi had an outstanding junior year. In the first meet of the year, she began by throwing a personal best in the weight with a throw of 49’4 ½” at the Cornell Relays. She was just getting started. At the Upstate Challenge, she posted another personal best throw of 53’ 2 ¾”, qualifying her for the Indoor ECAC Championships and earning her the No. 9 spot on Cornell’s all-time list for the weight. During the remainder of the season, she threw further than her personal best from the previous season in five more meets and finished with a sixth place finish at the Heptagonal/Ivy League Indoor Championships with another personal best throw of 53’5 ½”, which further solidified her No. 9 spot on Cornell’s all-time list. Rossi’s outdoor season saw even better improvements in the hammer. Her season started with an impressive 13 foot improvement in the hammer with a toss of 171’3”, which easily qualified her for the ECAC Championships and bumped her up to No. 6 all-time at Cornell in the hammer. During the remainder of the season, she threw further than her personal best throw from her sophomore year every single meet she competed in except one, where she was only shy by one inch. She finished the season with an impressive fifth-place finish at the Heptagonal/Ivy League Championship, improving her standings coming into the meet by one place, with a throw of 169’10”.
As a Sophomore (2009-10)
Rossi began her sophomore year with a phenomenal five foot personal best in the weight throw at the Cornell Relays with a throw of 49’2 ¼”, showing she was a force to be reckoned with in the Ivy League. She started off the outdoor season in similar fashion with a personal best throw in the hammer of 154’11” at the UC Irvine Spring Break Invite. She continued this forward momentum and gained another personal best at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic, throwing 158’10”, which earned her a No. 10 spot on Cornell’s all-time top performance list in the hammer.
As a Freshman (2008-09)
As a freshman it quickly became evident that Rossi, first recruited as a shot putter and discus thrower, had talents elsewhere. The weight and hammer soon became her predominant events. Indoors, Rossi’s best with the 20-pound weight was an impressive 44’ for a first-year thrower in the event. Outdoors, she quickly moved to the forefront, becoming Cornell’s top hammer thrower at her first competition. Continually improving, Rossi topped out at 151’6” and was a Heps finalist in this event.
Before Cornell
Rossi was a pole vaulter and her high school’s top shot and discus thrower, qualifying for the state meet in both her junior and senior year.
