As a Senior (2016-17)
Boham had a strong senior campaign for the Cornell jumps squad with her success in the triple jump and long jump, earning 23 top 10 finishes and four individual titles while competing in both the indoor and outdoor Ivy League Track and Field Championships. Indoors, she took first in the triple jump at the Southern Tier Collegiate Open (38’1.5”), the Upstate Challenge (38’5”) and the Robert J. Kane Invitational (38’4.25”) and finished third in the event at indoor Heps on a career best 39’7.75”. Boham also had a personal record 18’.5” long jump for second at the Cornell Cabin Fever Invitational. Outdoors, Boham finished second in the triple jump at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational and won the event at the Big Red Outdoor Invitational. At both outdoor Heps and the ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Boham finished sixth in the triple jump.
As a Junior (2015-16)
As a junior, Boham focused on the long jump and triple jump, setting personal bests in both. Indoors, she took home an individual title in the triple jump at the Robert J. Kane Invitational (37’10.5”) and finished ninth overall in the event at the Ivy League Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Outdoors, she started off the year with a personal best in the long jump (17’6.75”) and an 11th place finish at the UC Riverside Spring Break Invitational and claimed first in the triple jump at the same meet. She took first in the triple jump at the Big Red Invitational with a personal best (39’2.5”) and then finished seventh at the outdoor Heps (38’6.75”).
As a Sophomore (2014-15)
Boham continued to compete mostly in the triple jump during her sophomore season, getting off to a good start in the indoor season with second-place finishes at the Southern Tier Open in the triple jump (38') and the 60 meter hurdles (9.33 seconds). She also earned runner-up honors in the triple jump at 37'8.5" at the Beantown Challenge. At Ivy League Indoor Heptagonals, she finished 16th in the triple jump. Outdoors, she won the event at 38'4" at the UC Riverside Meet and at 38'4.75" at the Cornell Invitational. She placed 12th in the triple jump at Outdoor Heps.
As a Freshman (2013-14)
Boham was an immediate contributor in her debut season for the Big Red. She primarily focused on the triple jump, while adding a couple of runs in the 60 hurdles during the indoor season. Her best triple jump came at the Cornell Southern Tier Collegiate Open where she posted a 37’ 5.75” mark to take 2nd place. Her best 60 hurdle time came at the Bomber Invitational where she marked a 9.71 in a 13th place finish. Outdoors, Boham continued to compete in the triple jump, while finding her niche in the 100 hurdles. She posted a personal best 100 hurdle time of 15.49 to finish 3rd at the Cortland Classic Invitational. Her best triple jump of the outdoor season came at the Cornell Outdoor Invitational, where she marked a 37’ 4” in a 1st place finish. She competed at the Outdoor Heps in both the triple jump and 100 hurdles, finishing 14th in both.
Before Cornell
A talented triple jumper, Boham enters Cornell with a best of 38-10 1/2, scoring at the All-Group meet in New Jersey. She is a past champion in both the Group 2 and state sectionals. Boham is also an excellent hurdler and long jumper and will contribute in several events for the Big Red.
Personal
Gaynelle Georgina Boham is the daughter of Hector Boham and Louisa Sitton. She was one sister, Brianna Boham, who is a student at Kean University. Gaynelle is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
