As a Senior (2014-15)
The highlight of Markin's senior season was her career-best second-place finish at Indoor Ivy League Heptagonals, where her 12' 5 1/2" clearance was good for second all-time at Cornell. She competed solidly in the pole vault in both the indoor and outdoor seasons, making appearances at both ECAC Championships.

As a Junior (2013-14)
Markin continued to compete exclusively in the vault during her third year. Her year really got going at the Indoor Heps, as she shattered her previous best clearance by six inches, posting a clearance of 11’ 9.75” in a 3rd place finish. The following week she again bumped up her top mark to 11’ 11.75” in a 13th place finish at the Indoor ECAC’s. She continued her strong season outdoors, setting a new personal best with 12’ 1.5” clearances at both the Big Red Outdoor Invitational and the Cornell Outdoor Invitational. Markin concluded the season at the Outdoor Heps, taking 7th place.

As a Sophomore (2012-13)
Markin had a personal best in the pole vault during her sophomore season, clearing 11' 2 1/2" at the Oxford/Cambridge meet in April to top her previous personal best by more than half a foot.

Before Cornell
Markin was a multi-sport athlete in high school, earning at least one letter each season. During the course of her tenure at Oakton, Jennifer earned 15 athletic varsity letters while serving as captain of the cheerleading, gymnastics, indoor track and outdoor track teams. In track she was a top scorer for her team, leading it to three consecutive district titles, and regularly representing the team in regional and state championships. Jennifer also represented her team at the New Balance Indoor Nationals where she competed as a pentathlete, and the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in the Heptathlon. She is a skilled pole vaulter, jumper, and hurdler. Markin was Oakton’s 2011 Female Athlete of the Year and Donna de Verona Spirit of Sport winner.

Personal
Jennifer Michele Markin is the daughter of Laurie and Gary Markin and has a younger brother, Jacob. She is enrolled in the College of Human Ecology.
