At Cornell
Tanz developed into one of the league's top hurdle talents as a sophomore. A great competitor, she was among the team's top Heptagonal performers during the 2009 season. She was a regular scorer during the idnoor season, competing at both the 60m hurdles and the long jump. At the Indoor Heptagonal meet, she finished third in the hurdles, leading a trio of Cornell scorers in that event. She reached a personal best of 8.86 for the short hurdle event, sixth all-time in Cornell history. Outdoors, she competed in the 100m hurdles, the long jump and the 4x100m relay, scoring valuable points in many of the team's competitions. At the Penn Relays, her shuttle relay team just missed the school record. At the Outdoor Heptagonal Championships, she finished second in the 100m hurdles, finishing in a personal best 14.26, fifth-best all-time. She was an ECAC qualifier and received her first All-Ivy team honor.

Before Cornell
Tanz was a two-time captain of her school's indoor and outdoor track and field teams while also serving as captain of her school's soccer team. She was a state champion, a 16-time conference champion and an eight-time all-state honoree, while earning All-New England honors three times.

Personal
Lauren Jacqueline Tanz is the daughter of Jeff and Pam Tanz and has an older brother. She is enrolled in the College of Human Ecology.
