Before Cornell
Catanzarite was a four-time state qualifier in track and field in the 4x800m relay and in the 800m in Indiana, twice earning all-state honors in the 800m. She was a conference champion in that event as a senior and represented Indiana in the Midwest Meet of Champions, finishing as runner-up at 800m in 2:13.
Personal
Maria Catanzarite is the daughter of Mark Catanzarite and Liz Smith-Catanzarite and has two younger sisters and a younger brother.
