At Cornell
Santos was among the Big Red's top sprint performers during the 2009 season. Coming back from an injury suffered during her freshman season, she rounded into shape during the outdoor season, running on several of the Big Red's winning 4x100m relay teams. At the Outdoor Heptagonal Championships, she finished ninth in the preliminaries of the 100m, just missing out on the conference final.
Before Cornell
Santos qualified for the high school nationals while earning four letters in track and field, four in basketball and three in cross country. Mecha qualified for the Texas State High School Championships at 200m during her senior year.
Personal
Jamienne Mecha Santos is the daughter of James and Adrienne Santos and has an older brother. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
