As a Junior (2019-20)
• Ran in five cross country meets.
• Competed in the 2019 NCAA DI Northeast Region Championships to help the team qualify for the national competition.
• Placed 234th at the NCAA DI Championship (11/23).
• Competed in two indoor meets.
• Finished first-place at the Upstate Challenge (1/25) in the 800 and the DMR.
As a Sophomore (2018-19)
• Did not compete in any outdoor meets.
• Ran in eight indoor meets.
• Secured nine top-five finishes including a first place finish in the mile at the Penn State National (1/25-26).
• Earned a fifth place finish and a 1000m PR of 2:50.18 at the Ivy League Indoor Championship (2/23-24).
• Also finished the season with an 800m PR of 2:15.94.
• Ran in five cross country meets.
• Finished the cross country season with a 6k PR and a 42nd-place finish at the Ivy League Cross Country Championships (10/27).
As a Freshman (2017-18)
• Won two events on the year and collected 11 top-10 finishes.
• Individually, won the 1500 at the Cortland Classic Invitational (4:43.92) and was part of the winning 4x400 relay at the Southern Tier Collegiate Open.
• Had a busy season on the cross country course, running in five competitive meets.
• Made collegiate debut at the quad meet with Columbia, Brown and NYU, placing 32nd and then continued on to take 86th in the open race at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown.
• At the Paul Short Run, cruised to a 34th-place finish in the open race and was the 97th runner to cross the line at the Penn State National Open.
• Finished out season with a strong fifth place at the Reif Memorial Run.
Prior to Cornell
• A North Carolina state champion at 800, 1600 and 3200 meters, Melissa has personal bests of 2:13.10, 4:56.57, and 10:54.73,
• Also finished in the top 15 of the Footlocker South Regional as a senior.
