As a Junior (2017-18)
• Placed in the top-10 at both Indoor and Outdoor Heps
• Finished eighth in the weight throw with a personal-record toss (54-4 1/2) and ninth in the hammer (153-3).
• Notched six top-five finishes throughout the season.
• Was runner-up in the hammer at the Big Red Outdoor Invitational with a personal-best mark of 162-9.
As a Sophomore (2016-17)
• Continued to provide valuable depth to the Cornell throwing squad as a sophomore, earning nine top 10 finishes between the indoor and outdoor seasons.
• Indoors, placed fourth in the weight throw at the Southern Tier Collegiate Open with a collegiate-best 49’10” throw.
• Outdoors, finished ninth in the hammer throw at the Bison Outdoor Classic with a personal best heave of 158’9” and also finished third at the Cortland Classic Invitational and fourth at the Ithaca College Tuesday Meet.
As a Freshman (2015-16)
• Competed in five indoor meets and three outdoor meets as a freshman.
• Finished in the top 10 in the weight throw in four meets, with a season-best throw of 49’4.25” for sixth place at the Greg Page Relays.
• Outdoors, took third place at the Outdoor Upstate Challenge with a season-best throw of 152’0”.
Before Cornell
• One of New York’s best hammer/weight throwers, Sochima has personal bests of 149 feet, 7 inches in the hammer and 47’ in the weight.
• Was a three-time letter winner in indoor and outdoor track and was a All-Section and All-County selection.
• In addition, was a member of two academic honor societies.
Personal
• Sochima Bernice Bishop is the daughter of Terrance and Cheryl Middleton.
• She has an older brother, Sean, and an older sister, Sierra.
• She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
