Biography

As a senior (2019-20)

• Went 14-7 as a senior, missing the middle of the season due to injury before returning prior to the EIWA Championships.
• NCAA qualifier at 174 pounds, earning an at-large bid into the championships.
• Became the 17th wrestler in program history to qualify for NCAA's four times.
• Named to the EIWA All-Academic Team
• Went 4-0 at the Cornell Open, pinning three opponents.
• Finished the season second on the team in wins by fall with nine despite missing a chunk of the season.


As a junior (2018-19)

• Was 22-10 on the season, with nine of his losses coming to ranked opponents and five coming by a takedown or less.
• Went 2-2 at the NCAA tournament with losses by decision to No. 1 Mark Hall of Penn State and No. 9 Devin Skatzka of Minnesota
• Was the EIWA runner-up for the second straight year at 174 pounds.
• Named first-team All-Ivy League.
• Was 10-4 in dual meets and 12-1 vs. EIWA foes.
• Took third at the Bearcat Open with a 5-1 record.
• Went 4-0 in Ivy duals with a pair of wins by fall.
• Was 13-6 in his final 19 matches, with all six losses coming to top 20 foes.
• Joined teammate Jeramy Sweany as the program’s 30th and 31st Big Red wrestlers to earn at least three bids to nationals.
 

As a sophomore (2017-18

• Made his second consecutive NCAA Championship appearance and his first at 174 pounds.
• Earned honorable mention All-Ivy League accolades.
• Took third at the 2018 EIWA Championship with three wins over NCAA qualifiers, including a second period win by fall over 16th-ranked Ben Harvey of Army West Point in the third-place match.
• Finished the season at 18-11 overall, including 8-6 in dual matches.
• Won the Bearcat Open with a 6-1 victory over Columbia’s Tyrel White in the finals.
• Seven of his losses came to wrestlers in the top 16.
• Five defeats came by a takedown or less with four other coming by three points.
 

As a freshman (2016-17)

• Finished eighth at NCAAs at 165 pounds to take All-America honors.
• Earned his first EIWA championship, allowing just two escape points in going 4-0 at Easterns.
• Tied for the team lead with 35 wins, including 18 by bonus points.
• Was 9-3 in dual meets, 14-1 against EIWA opponents and 6-0 vs. Ivy League foes.
• Won the Binghamton Open and New York State championships and finished on the podium with a sixth-place effort at the Las Vegas Invite.
• Earned a first period fall over top 10-ranked Chandler Rogers of Oklahoma State.
• Had a streak of five consecutive wins by fall that stretched out to seven in nine matches.
• Opened the year 15-0 and his career 16-0 before a major decision loss in Las Vegas to Arizona State’s Anthony Valencia.
• Won three straight matches in the back draw, including a blood round victory over Valencia to avenge two losses to him in Vegas.
• Womack won his first collegiate match with an 8-3 victory over American's Jason Grimes Jr. at the NWCA All-Start Classic during the fall of 2015.
 

Prior to Cornell

• A six-time state champion at Scottboro HS, Womack was a four-time team captain.
• Was named the state's Most Outstanding Wrestler five times.
• Graduated with a 422-8 record, with five of his losses coming as a seventh grader.
• Was a perfect 77-0 as a senior, the most wins in an undefeated season in state history.
• In all, 327 of his 422 wins came by fall.
• Won the senior 160-pound division at the National High School Coaches Association national championships as a senior.
• Holds state and national records for pins in a season (68).
• Posted a 190-match win streak during his career.
• Has four of the top six single-season win totals in state history, including a record 85 wins as a sophomore.
