Derek DelPorto, a 1999 graduate of Slippery Rock University, begins his second season as an assistant coach for the Big Red.

Prior to his appointment at Cornell, DelPorto served as an assistant coach at the University of Oklahoma for two years (2000-02). At Oklahoma, DelPorto helped produce 11 All-Americans, three NCAA finalists, one national champion and a 2002 Big 12 team championship.

Prior to going to Oklahoma and DelPorto served as an assistant coach at his alma mater for 1999-2000.

With the Big Red, DelPorto has helped coach three All-Americans and a national champion, Travis Lee. In 2003, the Big Red captured the Ivy League title and along with Lee[apos]s title, had individuals place fifth and eighth at the NCAA tournament.

DelPorto was a three-time team captain, a three-time NCAA Division I national qualifier and an NCAA heavyweight All-American in 1999. He owns Slippery Rock[apos]s single season record for most victories with 42 and is second on the all-time career wins list with 117.
