Biography

At Cornell
2009-10: Winckel went 1-2 on the mat in 2010 while wrestling at 197 pounds. His victory came at the Body Bar Invitational with a technical fall over Mike McKeever of Binghamton.

2008-09: Winckel notched a 5-3 record at 197 pounds his sophomore season. He recorded two pins while wrestling at the Body Bar Invitational and Penn State Invitational. Winckel opened the Penn State Invitational by pinning Binghamton’s McKeever in 34 seconds. He was 3-1 for the day before having to withdraw due to injury.

2007-08: Winckel wrestled for Cornell at 197 pounds as a rookie. He notched a 2-2 record at the Nittany Lion Open. Winckel defeated Princeton’s Zach Morse by a 15-4 major decision, before pinning Lehigh’s James Odowd in 1:30.

Prior to Cornell
A three-time captain of his wrestling team, Winckel was a three-time conference champion. His junior season, he was the Class 3 state champion at 171 pounds. Moving up to 189 pounds, he placed third his senior year. A four-time district champion, he was named team MVP three seasons. His senior year, he was named his conference’s outstanding wrestler. He was a member of the Purler Wrestling Academy and the Team Missouri Central Freestyle Team, and compiled a 158-10 record. At North St. Francois County HS, Winckel was a tailback and middle linebacker for the football team. He was a two-time captain, and three year starter. A member of the National Honor Society, Winckel was on the honor roll all four years of high school. He was in the R.O.T.A.R.Y. club for being in the top ten percent, and was a high school Heisman nominee.

Personal
Jason Michael Winckel is the son of Bruce and Laurie Winckel, and he has a younger brother and an older sister. Majoring in nutritional science, he is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
