At Cornell
2007-08: After serving as the backup at 125 pounds his first three seasons with the Big Red, Rodriguez earned the starting spot as a senior. He pinned two of his opponents on the way to notching a 4-1 record at the EIWA tournament where he placed third and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Rodriguez won a 14-4 major decision over No. 8 ranked Rollie Peterkin to lead the Big Red in a victory over Penn, which helped Cornell win its sixth-straight Ivy title. With a 4-1 league mark, he was named first-team All-Ivy. Rodriguez opened his season placing fifth at the Nittany Lion Open and sixth at the Reno Tournament of Champions. Rodriguez is third on the team in both falls with eight and major decisions with five. He ends his four-year career with 46 wins.

2006-07: Rodriguez wrestled in nine duals matches for the Big Red during his junior season. Against Ohio State, he defeated Will Livingston by major decision securing four team points for Cornell. Rodriguez represented the Big Red at the Las Vegas Invitational at 125 pounds where he went 2-2. He wrapped up his season on a four-match win streak, including a 20-5 technical fall victory over Harvard’s Ryan Fitzgerald.

2005-06: As a 8-6 osophomore, Rodriguez went overall. He competed at the Body Bar Invitational, going, 3-2. He also competed at the Southern Scuffle and finished fifth at the New York state championships.

2004-05: Rodriguez had a solid freshman campaign, notching six wins. He competed in four tournaments, including going 4-2 at the Nittany Lion Open. He also competed in one dual match, a win over Bloomsburg.

Prior to Cornell
One of the top grapplers from the state of Washington, Rodriguez was a two-time state champion whose bid for a third title came up short due to an injury at last year's state finals in the 125-pound bracket. He began his career at Kamiakin High School with a second-place finish at 103 pounds as a freshman. In 2003, Rodriguez was a junior national champion in Greco-Roman at 112 pounds.

Personal
Luis Miquel Salinas is the son of Mary Rodriguez, and he is enrolled in Cornell's College of Arts and Sciences. He has an older brother and a younger sister.
