As a senior (2019-20)

• Went 9-4 as a senior with four wins by decision, two by fall, two by tech and one by major.
• Placed at the Bearcat Open and at the Cornell Open, while going 3-1 at the South Beach Individual.

As a junior (2018-19)

• Went 4-3 on the season at 141 pounds with wins by fall and tech fall.
• Placed fifth at the season-opening Binghamton Open with a pair of bonus point wins.
• Went 2-1 at the South Beach Invitational.
 

As a sophomore (2017-18)

• Russo was 7-5 as a freshman at 125 pounds, wrestling for the Big Red in four dual meets.
• Began his career with seven consecutive wins, including winning the Binghamton Open.
• Topped No. 19 Jay Schwarm of Northern Iowa by a 10-4 score in his first home dual meet.
• Was 2-2 at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, including a first round 7-3 victory over No. 15 Louis Hayes of Virginia.
 

As a freshman (2016-17)

• Did not wrestle in varsity competition.
 

Prior to Cornell

• Russo was a three-year state placewinner at Jackson Liberty HS.
• Was conference wrestler of the year in 2014.
• Won four district titles and a pair of regional championships.
• Posted a 157-12 career record, graduating as the school's all-time wins leader.
• Elected team captain as a senior.
 

Personal

• Michael A. Russo is the son of Michael Jr. and Frances Russo and has an older sister and twin brother, Matthew, who is also a member of the Big Red wrestling team.
• He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
