At Cornell

Mark Wittink ‘00 joined the staff prior to the 2012 season, serving as Director of Player Development. In his role, Wittink does all the little things for the Cornell men’s lacrosse program that make a big difference. In addition to having a hand in practice operations and logistics, Wittink serves in an academic support and liaison role for the Big Red players. He is also in frequent communication with Cornell’s Athletic Communications office, helping the sports information directors connect with the student-athletes to line up interviews and increase the Big Red’s presence in the local and national media.
 
Wittink has played an instrumental role in the Big Red’s social media efforts as well, making sure that the Cornell men’s lacrosse program optimizes its online presence most effectively. He coordinates the team’s Instagram (21,200 followers), Twitter (17,800 followers), and Facebook (2,823 followers) pages, which are among the most followed in the country.
 
Wittink is also an integral piece of both the program’s alumni relations and community service efforts. He plays a big part in the planning and execution of the team’s community service endeavors, specifically the 21 Run and Big Red Readers program.

Personal

An Ithaca, N.Y. native, Wittink attended Avon Old Farms School before enrolling at Lehigh, where he spent two seasons on the men’s lacrosse team. He lettered once for the Mountain Hawks, but was sidelined with a career ending injury in 1998, and transferred to Cornell.

A member of the Sphinx Head Honor Society, Wittink earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell’s School of Agriculture & Life Sciences in 2000. He would go on to earn his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University in 2009. He currently resides in Ithaca with his wife, Alicia ’97, and their two children.
