At Cornell
Furman is in his second year as an assistant coach at Cornell. He helped lead the Big Red to an 18-7 overall record and 4-3 in the Ivy League in his first season, good for 37th nationally in the final ITA rankings. Cornell earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, upsetting No. 23 ranked Auburn (4-3) in the first round for the team’s second tournament win in program history before falling to No. 12 ranked Duke (4-1) in the second round. Furman also coached unanimous first team All-Ivy singles Radu Papoe '25 and second team All-Ivy doubles team in Adit Sinha '25 and Nathan Mao '25.
Cornell continued its success in 2024, posting a 19-7 overall record and 5-2 mark in conference action. The Big Red once again earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Team Championship, sweeping Arkansas before falling to No. 4 TCU in the Fort Worth Regional final. With Furman's guidance, Papoe continued to dominate, becoming Cornell's first Ivy League Player of the Year in 24 years and unanimous first team All-Ivy in singles for the second consecutive season. The junior also earned a 9-16 seed into the NCAA Singles Championship, becoming the first Big Red player in program history to earn All-American honors. Sinha also earned second team All-Ivy honors in singles and paired up with Mao for another second team nod in doubles.
Prior to Cornell
Furman previously worked as an assistant coach at Nebraska, with responsibilities touching all aspects of the program, including recruiting, practice planning, and execution. He also worked with Baylor as a team manager.
Furman joined Baylor as a graduate transfer in 2021, going 26-4 in singles and 12-2 in doubles in his lone season for the Bears. He was the Big 12 individual champion and a member of the 2021 NCAA finalist team. Furman helped Baylor to its first No. 1 ranking since 2005 and earned a spot on the 2021 Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team. In the classroom, Furman was an ITA Scholar Athlete.
Furman also played four years at Duke (2017-20), posting a career mark of 60-37 in singles and 61-26 in doubles. He was ranked as high as No.44 in singles and No. 12 in doubles in ITA rankings. Furman earned an NCAA Doubles Tournament berth with Nick Stachowiak as a freshman in 2017. Named a four-time ACC Academic Honor Roll Member and a two-time ITA All-Academic Scholar-Athlete (2018, 2020), he also served as an administrative intern in the Blue Devils athletic department.
Furman earned a degree in psychology from Duke in 2020 and a master’s in business administration from Baylor in 2022.
