ITHACA, N.Y. -- The procedure for Cornell students to obtain season tickets for the 2008-09 men's hockey season was announced today by the Cornell Athletic Ticket Office. This season, 1,600 season tickets will be made available to full-time Cornell students. Eligibility for purchasing tickets will be determined by a random drawing and a required overnight campout.
Tickets and seats will be broken into three blocks as follows:
Block 1 - 250 graduate and professional student seats (separate seats in sections B, D and G). The cost is $234/season ticket.
Block 2 - 150 seats for Cornell seniors in undergraduate student seats (sections A, B, D, E and F). The cost is $234/season ticket.
Block 3 - 1,200 seats for students from any class. The cost is $234/season ticket
Note: if a senior receives two line numbers validated by the process below, only the senior line number (Block 2 number) will be valid. Seniors can always wait to pick tickets with friends in Block 3 if desired.
Step 1: Registration for tickets
Students who want to purchase season hockey tickets must report to the Ticket Office (located just inside the main entrance of Bartels Hall) between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on the following dates to register for the opportunity to purchase tickets:
Tuesday, Sept. 16 through Friday, Sept. 19 and Monday, Sept. 22 through Thursday, Sept. 25.
Note: Registering for tickets first does not equate to receiving first choice of seats, nor does it guarantee eligibility to purchase tickets. First choice and the range of students eligible to purchase tickets will be determined by a random drawing.
Upon registering by presenting a valid Cornell ID at the ticket window, students will receive a line number form. Student groups (friends, clubs, etc.) that want to purchase seats near each other should come to the Ticket Office together to obtain consecutive numbers.
After Sept. 25, a random drawing will conducted by members of the Student Assembly or Student Marketing Group. One number for each block of seats will be drawn. The drawing will determine the range of line numbers that are eligible to purchase season tickets. The three numbers drawn will identify the beginning of the range of eligible line numbers in each block of seats.
The ranges of line numbers for each block eligible to purchase tickets will be posted on CornellBigRed.com on Monday, September 29.
A waiting list will also be established for each block of tickets. The waiting list will begin with the line number that immediately follows the last eligible line number in each block of tickets. Students on the waiting list do not have to take part in Step 2.
Step 2: Camping out
On Friday evening, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m., students eligible to wait in line by virtue of holding a line number in the eligible range for one of the three blocks of tickets must report to the Ramin Room in Bartels Hall for the official line and to obtain tickets and select seats. As in past years, one student may hold up to four line numbers. Random line checks will occur from Friday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. until Saturday, Oct. 4 at 9 p.m. at which time seat selection and ticket distribution will begin.
Any line numbers not present during a random line number check will be invalidated and that student will be placed at the end of the waiting list.
Seats will be selected in the following order: Graduate and professional students will choose seats among the 250 assigned graduate seats. Students with line numbers in block 2 will then select seats from the 1,350 undergraduate student block, followed by selection of the remaining 1,200 seats by students with line numbers for block 3.
Note: students with a lower line number are welcome to wait and select seats with students that have a later line number, but not vice-versa!
Only students with eligible line numbers will be permitted to participate in the waiting line.
