ITHACA, N.Y. -- Karrie Moore has been named assistant women's lacrosse coach at Cornell University it was announced today by head coach Jenny Graap '86. Moore, who spent two seasons in a similar position at Colgate after playing at Ivy League rival Penn, replaces Laurie DeLuca, who will serve as a volunteer assistant coach after recently having her first child.
"We are thrilled to welcome Karrie to our Cornell Lacrosse family," Graap said. "She is an impressive young coach who has the passion and energy to help our program compete for championships. Her experience as a student-athlete in the Ivy League will allow her to relate to our players who are striving to be the best in both the classroom and on the lacrosse field."
Moore directed the defense and worked with the goalkeepers in her two seasons with the Raiders, helping the team to a Patriot League title and a slot in the 2008 NCAA tournament. She assisted in the development of 10 All-Patriot League players in her two seasons with trips to the Patriot League tournament both years. Moore also served as recruiting coordinator and had a role in all the day-to-day operations of the program.
A four-year letter winner at Penn, Moore was the Quakers' starting goalkeeper as a senior, registering an 8-3 record. She finished the 2006 campaign among the Ancient Eight leaders in goals against average (7.23) and save percentage (.478) the same year that Cornell won a share of its first Ivy League title in program history. Penn finished the campaign 10-6 overall. The 2006 graduate earned a bachelor's degree in psychology.
