ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell field hockey team placed three members on the All-Ivy team, as was announced by the league office this afternoon. Junior Catie De Stio and senior Melanie Jue were named to the first-team, while junior Kate Thompson was a second-team selection.

De Stio earns her second straight first-team selection, and her third All-Ivy honor over all, after leading the Big Red in all offensive categories this season including goals (10), assists (8) and points (28). She finished the year ranked fifth in the Ivy League in assists per game, sixth in points per game and seventh overall in goals per game. De Stio finished the year ranking eighth in Cornell history for assists in a single-season, eighth overall in points for a single season, and ninth for goals in a single season. This year, she also moved into several career categories at Cornell, ranking third in career assists (17), fifth in career points (65) and seventh in career goals (24).

Despite a two-year hiatus from field hockey, Jue has earned back-to-back first-team honors in her final two seasons at Cornell. A player that thrives on high-pressure situations and is a tremendous competitor, she ranks first in the Ivy League and second in the nation in save percentage (.841). She is also at the top of the conference and eighth in the country in goals-against average (1.27).

Thompson earns the first second-team honor of her career after a pair of honorable mention selections in her first two seasons. A multi-faceted weapon with excellent one-on-one skills, she plays a critical role in the organization of the team’s press and regularly matches up and shuts down the center midfield of the opposition. Thompson is also a member of Cornell’s offensive penalty corner unit and can fill three roles in that capacity. She finished the year with two goals and two assists for six points.

Cornell finished the season with a 10-5 record overall and tied for third in the Ivy League with a mark of 4-3 in conference play. The Big Red finished with a .500+ record in the Ivy League for the fifth straight season, the most consecutive winning seasons in program history, as well as 10 or more wins in four of Coach Hornibrook’s six years with the team.
