ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell field hockey players Catie De Stio and Mel Jue have been named second-team Mideast Region All-Americans, as was announced today by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

De Stio, a three-time All-Ivy selection, earns her second straight selection to the Mideast Region All-American team after a first-team selection last season. The junior forward led the Big Red in all offensive categories this season including goals (10), assists (8) and points (28). She finished the year ranked fifth in the Ivy League in assists per game, sixth in points per game and seventh overall in goals per game. De Stio finished the year ranking eighth in Cornell history for assists in a single-season, eighth overall in points for a single season, and ninth for goals in a single season. This year, she also moved into several career categories at Cornell, ranking third in career assists (17), fifth in career points (65) and seventh in career goals (24).

Despite a two-year hiatus from field hockey, Jue has garnered her first Mideast Region All-American honor after earning back-to-back first-team All-Ivy honors in her final two seasons at Cornell. A player that thrives on high-pressure situations and is a tremendous competitor, she finished the year ranked first in the Ivy League and second in the nation in save percentage (.841). The senior goalkeeper was also at the top of the conference and eighth in the country in goals-against average (1.27).

Cornell finished the season with a 10-5 record overall and tied for third in the Ivy League with a mark of 4-3 in conference play. The Big Red finished with a .500+ record in the Ivy League for the fifth straight season, the most consecutive winning seasons in program history, as well as 10 or more wins in four of Coach Hornibrook’s six years with the team.
