ITHACA, N.Y. – Fans of the Cornell University men's lacrosse team will once again enjoy a myriad of ways to follow the Big Red this season as it looks to win its seventh straight Ivy League championship and return to the NCAA tournament for a sixth straight season. Both local and nationally televised games, as well as REDCASTs for home men's lacrosse games highlight the ways fans can follow Cornell during the 2009 season. Local radio station WHCU 870 AM will again carry all but one of the Big Red's contests, with Barry Leonard in his 12th season of calling the play-by-play. Leonard is joined in the booth by Howie Borkan '81 and Tom LaFalce '94.

To join the Big Red at home, contact the Cornell Athletic Ticket Office by phone at 607-254-BEAR, or by visiting the ticket office, which is located in Bartels Hall on Campus Road. The ticket office is open Monday-Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased at the gate 1.5 hours before a game.

Cornell will enjoy a national audience via ESPNU when it travels to Army on Feb. 28 for a 5 p.m. contest. Additionally, the Big Red's games vs. Syracuse on April 8 will appear on Time Warner Sports.

Fans can also watch live streaming video of the Big Red's home games through REDCASTs, a subscription-based joint venture of Cornell athletics and Internet Consulting Services (ICS). Numerous options, including yearly, monthly, sport-by-sport and pay-per-view passes, provide flexibility without the worry of automatic renewal. REDCASTs are available on all computer operating systems.

In addition to the streaming video, live audio will be available for nearly all of Cornell's games through REDCASTs. At this time, all of the Big Red's games, with the exception of the Army contest, will be available both locally on WHCU 870 AM and through REDCAST.

All of Cornell's home games will also have SIDEARM Live Stats available at no charge at www.CornellBigRed.com. Live Stats is the next generation in live stat presentation, powered solely by Flash and XML. Using official stats generated through the Stat Cew system operated by Cornell's Athletic Communications Office, the interface automatically pulls in "fresh" statistical data in the background with each receipt of an updated XML file directly from the scoring computer. As a result, Live Stats never needs to refresh or reload. The system is also integrated with head shots of the active student-athletes. Live stats for road games are provided at the discretion of the home school, and links will be provided on the men's lacrosse schedule page if and when they become available. Cornell does not oversee those productions and is not responsible for live stats at away contests.

If you aren't going to be close to your computer on gameday, you can have live scores texted directly to your cell phone. Scores will be sent at the end of each quarter. This service is free to sign up for at www.CornellBigRed.com, but standard text-messaging rates charged by your wireless provider will apply.
