ITHACA, N.Y. -- Princeton stunned the Cornell men's hockey team, scoring two goals in the final 35 seconds of the game to steal a 2-1 victory over the Big Red on Saturday night at Lynah Rink. The result spoiled what was an outstanding game for the Big Red, which carried the play for much of the contest, but ultimately came away with the defeat.

Ben Scrivens stopped 25 shots in taking the loss for the Big Red, which drops to 15-4-4 overall and 10-3-3 in ECAC Hockey action. Princeton improves to 17-6 overall and 11-5 in league play. The Tigers' Zane Kalemba stopped 26 Cornell shots in picking up the victory.

Cornell wound up the game 1-for-5 on the power play, while Princeton was held scoreless in four man advantage opportunities. Blake Gallagher scored the lone goal for the Big Red, with Colin Greening and Riley Nash picking up assists on the power-play tally. Dan Bartlett scored the equalizer for Princeton, with Taylor Fedun scoring the game-winner with 18 seconds to play in regulation.

The game got off to a late start as Princeton's bus broke down en route to Ithaca. The Tigers rolled into the arena at 7 p.m., forcing the game start to be pushed back to 8:15.

Cornell opened up hot, peppering Kalemba with 15 shots in the opening period, but the Tigers' netminder kept Cornell off the scoreboard. Cornell's Scrivens was up to the task as well, stopping all six shots he faced in the opening frame.

Midway through the second period, Cornell got on the board on Gallagher's power-play tally, his fourth goal of the season. Riley Nash sent the puck in toward the goal from the half-wall, and Greening slipped it on to Barlow, who worked his way around the top of the crease and flipped the puck over the outstretched arm of Kalemba for the 1-0 lead.

That lead would hold up for nearly the entire game until late in the third period. With Kalemba on the bench for the extra skater, the Tigers sent the puck around behind the Cornell goal to Cam MacIntyre, who fed Bartlett in the slot for the finish past Scrivens with 36 seconds remaining in the contest.

That score would hold up for the next 18 seconds until the Tigers broke out on a rush out of their own zone. Princeton's Kevin Lohry sprung Taylor Fedun on a break, who passed across the ice to Kevin Kaiser. Kaiser got the puck in deep and sent a pass to Fedun, who roofed a shot over Scrivens for the game-winner.

Cornell slips into second place in ECAC Hockey, two points behind Yale and a point ahead of Princeton.

The Big Red returns to the road next weekend, traveling to Dartmouth for a Friday night game before heading to Harvard for a 7 p.m. contest against the Crimson. Saturday night's game will be televised nationally on CBS College Sports.
