ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell University men's lacrosse player
Chris Finn (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset HS) has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week, as was announced this afternoon by the conference office. It is the first weekly honor of Finn's career, and the third Player of the Week accolade received by the Big Red this season.
Finn earned the honor following a spectacular effort on April 4, as he helped No. 3 Cornell erase an early four-goal deficit to defeat No. 13 Harvard, 13-12. The senior attackman registered career highs with four goals and five ground balls. He also caused one turnover, which was the key to the victory, as he stripped the Crimson goalie, picked up the loose ball and scored on an empty net to register the game-winner. Finn also tallied a key goal early-on, finding the back of the net with seven seconds to go in the first quarter, to cut Harvard's lead to 6-3 and give the Big Red some much-needed momentum heading into the second quarter.
Finn currently ranks fifth on the team in scoring with 10 goals and six assists.
The Big Red (7-1, 3-0 Ivy) is back in action tomorrow evening when it travels up I-81 to face No. 6 Syracuse in the Carrier Dome on Tuesday, April 7 at 7 p.m.
