EUGENE, Ore. -- The first two days of action at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., have seen plenty of highlights, and performances by Cornellians have been particularly strong. The USA meet is also serving as the qualifier for the IAAF World Championships, to be be held in August in Berlin, Germany.
In the men's triple jump on Thursday, 2008 NCAA Champion Muhammad Halim '08 placed 6th in 52-9 1/2. Meanwhile, current Cornell junior Gary Jones placed 13th in 51-5 1/2.
Morgan Uceny '07, coming back from an injury that significantly curtailed her fall training and the indoor part of her season, is rounding into form at the right time. She advanced out of Thursday's first round of the 800 with a time of 2:05.24 and then advanced to the finals (for the third straight year at the US National Championships) with a 2:04.62 clocking in Friday's semi-finals. The women's 800 final will be on Sunday.
Also set to compete on Sunday's final day of action are Garrett Huyler '09 and Jeomi Maduka '09. Huyler will compete in the men's high jump on Sunday morning while Maduka contests the women's long jump early on Sunday afternoon.

ESPN will have TV coverage on Saturday from 7:30-9:30 PM ET. On Sunday, coverage switches to NBC from 4:00-6:00 PM ET.
