ITHACA, N.Y. -- Despite holding a more than 2-1 edge in shots, the Cornell women's soccer team fell to Manhattan, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Berman Field. The Big Red falls to 0-3-1 on the year, while the Jaspers improve to 3-3.
The game's lone goal came in the 22nd minute as the Jaspers used a quick restart to spring Caroline Morse through the Cornell back line. Morse then chipped a looping ball over Cornell goalkeeper
Kelly Murphy that bounced into the Cornell goal for the only scoring of the match.
Cornell held a 6-2 advantage in shots for the first half and an 8-4 margin in the second half, but could not solve Manhattan goalkeeper Kara Davis. Davis picked up four saves in earning the shutout, including several of the spectacular variety in the second half as the Big Red pushed for the equalizer.

The Big Red returns to action on Wednesday night, playing host to central New York rival Colgate in a 7 p.m. match at Berman Field. Cornell will then head to northern Virginia for the George Mason Invitational, taking on William and Mary on Friday afternoon before facing the host Patriots on Sunday.
