NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Cornell women's swimming and diving team hit on some improved times, but unbeaten Yale was able to take home a 203-97 victory over the Big Red on Sunday afternoon. Cornell fell to 2-4 on the season with the defeat.
Chiara Spinazzola was part of both victories on the day, winning the 100 back in a strong 57.47, while swimming the lead-off of the victorious 400 free relay. She joined teammates
Ali Guba,
Emily Caras and
Laura Acchione with a 3:34.53.
Jessie Holley had a great swim in the 100 breast, finishing second in a time of 1:07.48, with Guba (24.42) and Jll Berlin (25.24) posting strong times in the 50 free to go 2-3.
Emily Dean led a 2-3-4 Big Red finish in the 200 back with a 2:07.33, while
Meg Farrington touched at 2:07.34. Spinazzola added a runner-up in the 100 fly to her two victories, touching the wall in 57.63. In diving, Jen Park scored a 239.02 to place second in the 3-meter event.
Cornell returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 16 at 1 p.m. when it swims Colgate in Hamilton, N.Y.
