ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's and women's swimming and diving teams will head to New York City for dual meets at Columbia this weekend with each looking to add to their season win total. The women will attempt to improve on its 2-5 record (1-4 Ivy) on Friday, Jan. 22 at 4 p.m., while the men will meet the Lions on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 4 p.m. at the Uris Swimming Center.
The women, currently sitting at 2-5, have already surpassed last year's win total. The Big Red will attempt to even the all-time series between the teams (Columbia leads 15-14) and win its third dual meet in a year for the first time since the 2005-06 campaign. The Lions took home a 189-111 victory a season ago despite wins by Emily Dean (200 back) and Kim Levine (50 free) at Teagle Pool.
The Big Red men lead the all-time series against Columbia 47-20, including a tight 167-122 victory a season ago at Teagle Pool. Cornell won 15 of 16 events in the win with Phil Baity, swimming his final race at home, setting the pool record in the 200 back. At 5-2, Cornell needs one win to tie last season's victory total.
