Dean Wins Two Events As Lions Top Big Red In Women's Swimming and Diving

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Emily Dean won two events and both Chiara Spinazzola and Allie Butters won on apiece as Cornell fell to Columbia 179-121 on Friday afternoon at the Uris Swimming Center. The Big Red fell to 2-6 (1-5 Ivy).
* Allie Butters won the 3-meter diving (241.28) and placed second on the 1-meter board (211.14).
* Emily Dean won the 100 back (59.12) with a .08 win over COlumbia's Delghi Urbshurow and then out-touched her by .01 in the 200 back (2:06.67)
* Sophomore Chiara Spinazzola won the 100 fly (56.73) and finished second in the 100 (52.72) after being touched out, and also finished second in the 200 free (1:55.37).
* Christina Dimaria clocked a second-place effort in the 200 fly (2:07.77).
* Juliann Rienecker was second in the 200 breast (2:27.85).
The Big Red returns to action on Feb, 6 when it meets Brown at 11 a.m. at Teagle Pool.
