McMunigal Named to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Second Team

ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell senior women’s basketball player Virginia McMunigal has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District second team for her work in the classroom and on the court, the organization announced today.
McMunigal started 14 straight games for the Big Red this season before being sidelined with an injury. She still ranks second on the team with 10.3 points per game and ranks 26th in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (43.5 percent). She also ranks third in the Ivy League for 3-pointers made per game. Earlier this season, McMunigal moved into ninth-place in Cornell history for career 3-pointers with 103 career treys. A key member of the Big Red squad, she averaged nearly 29 minutes per contest. Academically, McMunigal hold a 3.64 grade-point average in economics in Cornell’s College of Arts and Sciences.
To be eligible for the Academic All-America program, student-athletes must have a minimum of a 3.20 grade point average, be a starter or important reserve, and have played in at least half of the team's games.
