3/8/2010 9:17:13 AM

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell men's polo rallied in the second half and came away with an 18-15 victory over the Toronto Polo Club on Saturday evening at the Oxley Equestrian Center. The Big Red will enter the Northeast Regional with an 11-4 record.

Without leading scorer Max Constant, the Big Red turned to David Dunstan to step in and play with Connor Pardell and Branden Van Loon. The first chukker  was back and forth and ended where they started with the score tied at 3-3. In the second, Toronto found its groove and pulled out to a 9-6 lead at the half. The Big Red seemed to be a little flat in the first half, and after Constant gave a little half time pep talk to his teammates, the boys came out firing in the third chukker and quickly tied the game at 9-9. Toronto pulled back out to a two- goal lead, but Cornell again responded with three more goals to take the lead at 12 – 11. Toronto tied it, but the Big Red ended the chukker with two more goals to take a 14-12 lead into the fourth.  The fourth chukker was a back and forth affair, but Cornell never trailed again and ended the game on top 18-15. Van Loon tallied 10 goals with Pardell adding five and Dunstant had two.
