DENTON, Texas - Cornell's Emily Santoro tied for first place on vault to capture a share of the 2010 USAG vault championship, leading a parade of five Cornell All-Americans on Saturday afternoon at Texas Woman's University. Besides the All-Americans, Melanie Dilliplane was named the USAG national assistant coach of the year.

On vault, for finals only, each athlete must complete two vaults and the score from each vault then gets averaged. Santoro completed her handspring 2/1 twist for both vaults. On her first vault, she received a 9.800 and on her second vault she received a 9.725 which put her average at 9.763. That was good enough to claim her first national title, and the first for any Cornell gymnast on the event.

On bars, juniors Maddie Pearsall and Gabriella Sanguineti both made it in. First up was Pearsall, who nailed her routine by opening with a toe shoot to the high bar followed by a giant 1/1 - giant 1/2 - overshoot handstand combo and then she finished it all up with a solid giant 1/1 - double tuck for a 9.625. Right after Sanguineti. She too had a stellar routine that opened with the same toe shoot to the high bar, but she followed hers up with a giant 1/1 - geinger - overshoot and then ended the same with a giant 1/1 - double tuck which she stuck cold for a 9.625 as well. At the end of the day, those scores tied the duo for third place overall.

Emily Lenk was up first in the second half of the floor exercise. She opened with a stuck double pike and then followed that up with a stuck double tuck ... a fantastic way to start a routine. Then she hit her popa - wolf jump 1 1/2 combo and ended the routine with a front layout 1/1 - front tuck for a 9.725 for one of the best routines of her career. In the end, her effort was good for fifth place.

Over on beam, Melanie Standridge was in a tough field of competitors. She opened with her signature mount and then hit a beautiful front aerial - back layout series followed by a stuck switch leap - 1 arm back handspring. She then hit both her beat jump - split jump 3/4 and her back pike - split jump before ending her routine with a 1 arm back handspring - 1 1/2 twist. She took 2 small steps on the dismount which was enough for the judges to only give her a 9.525 to miss the podium.

The Big Red also had its seven seniors honored (Erin Brosy, Jill Dean, Brittany Howse, Emily Lenk, Molly Parker, Cindy Shi and Sarah Zelek), as well as the team's scholar-athletes (Jill Dean, Irene Leung, Bethany Neczypor, Molly Parker, Maddie Pearsall and Melanie Standridge).
