ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell University field hockey head coach
Donna Hornibrook has announced the team's game schedule for the upcoming 2010 season. The schedule features eight home games and three games vs. 2009 NCAA tournament participants, two of which advanced to the national semifinals.
The Big Red opens the year on the road, playing its first four games away from Ithaca. Cornell's season begins on Friday, Sept. 3 when it takes on Lock Haven before facing Delaware two days later. The following weekend, the Big Red takes on Bucknell on Sept. 11, before playing St. Joseph's the following day.
Cornell will open the home portion of its season when it plays host to Penn on Sept. 18. The Big Red continues Ivy League play the next weekend as it travels to Columbia.
Three straight home games against Virginia, Yale and St. Francis (Pa.) wraps up September and opens October for the Big Red, before a mid-week road contest at Colgate on Oct. 6.
Lehigh comes to town on Oct. 10 and then the Big Red travels for two straight against conference foes Harvard and Brown.
The Big Red closes the season with three consecutive home games, beginning with Princeton on Oct. 30 and Villanova on Oct. 31. Cornell closes the season by welcoming Dartmouth to Marsha Dodson Field on Nov. 6.
