Volleyball Announces 2010 Schedule

ITHACA, N.Y. – Sarah Bernson, the Wendy Schaenen '79 Head Coach of Volleyball at Cornell University has announced the team's game schedule for the upcoming 2010 season. The schedule features 11 home matches, including three contests during the Cornell Invitational, as well as two matches vs. 2009 NCAA tournament participants.

The Big Red opens the season by hosting the Cornell Invitational on Sept. 3-4. The hosts will face Siena in the opening match on Friday evening, before facing St. Francis (Pa.) and Lamar the next day.

The next two weekends will see Cornell on the road at the Bowling Green Invitational and the Colgate Invitational. The Big Red will face Bowling Green on Sept. 10, before taking on Oalkand and IPFW on Sept. 11. Cornell will open the Colgate Invitational against UConn on Sept. 17. The following day, the Big Red will face Akron before playing the host Raiders.

On Sept. 25, Cornell will open Ivy League play against Columbia in New York City, with the teams meeting again one week later at Newman Arena on Oct. 2.

Four straight road matches against Dartmouth (Oct. 8), Harvard (Oct. 9), Yale (Oct. 15) and Brown (Oct. 16) are followed by five consecutive home contests. The home-stand begins with in-state rival Syracuse travelling to Ithaca on Tuesday, Oct. 19 for the Big Red's final non-conference match. Cornell then returns to Ivy League play as it plays host to Penn (Oct. 19), Princeton (Oct. 20), Harvard (Oct. 29) and Dartmouth (Oct. 30).

The month of November opens with the Big Red's final road weekend of the season, as it travels to Princeton and Penn on Nov. 5 and Nov. 6, respectively.

Cornell wraps up the regular season the following weekend as it welcomes Brown (Nov. 12) and Yale (Nov. 13) to Newman Arena.
