ITHACA, N.Y. -- A pair of Cornell women's lacrosse players have been named to the IWLCA All-North Region Second-Team. Senior Tissy O'Connor and sophomore Jessi Steinberg were among 128 student-athletes from around the country selected for their efforts on the field during the 2010 campaign.

Steinberg, a unanimous first-team All-Ivy League selection and a two-time Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week, led Cornell is goals (40), points (46) and draw controls (33) as a sophomore. She averaged four goals and three draw controls per game in Ivy play, and her 28 goals in seven league contests was more than three times any other player on the team. She scored at least three goals in each league game with six against both Columbia and Yale. In all, Steinberg had at least three goals in eight contests. She tied a school record with eight draw controls in a single game to go along with her five scores in a loss to nationally ranked Hofstra. She also had two goals, two assists, three ground balls and three draws against No. 3 North Carolina. Steinberg added 14 ground balls and seven caused turnovers on the year. It is her first all-region honor.

O'Connor, a second-team IWLCA All-American in 2009 and a first-team All-Ivy pick as a junior and senior, is a repeat member of the all-region team after capturing first-team accolades in 2009. She ranks among the team leaders in draws (25), ground balls (20) and caused turnovers (18), and also sits fourth on the school's career draw controls list (103). O'Connor had four caused turnovers, two draws and two ground balls against Ivy champion Penn, won five ground balls and caused two turnovers against Syracuse and won four draws against Columbia and Harvard.
