Marks Selected To All-Star Team In Hawaiian Summer League

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Rick Marks, a rising junior with the Cornell baseball team, was named to the Makai Islanders All-Star team for the Hawaii Collegiate Baseball League. His Islanders team scored a 6-4 victory over the Mauka Warriors on July 19.

Marks has been outstanding this summer for the Kamuela Paniolos, which has a 13-18 mark entering the final week of the season. Marks leads his team with a 2.40 earned-run average and a team-best 30 innings pitched and 31 strikeouts. He is 2-1 in seven appearances with two starts, also earning a pair of saves.

Last season with the Big Red, Marks went 0-1 with a 7.03 earned-run average in 13 appearances, pitching 24.1 innings. He struck out 22 and walked 11 for the Big Red, with 12 of his 13 appearances coming out of the bullpen.

The Paniolos are in fifth place in the six-team league, which wraps up the regular season on July 30.
