ITHACA, N.Y. – Dayna Smith, the Rebecca Quinn Morgan '60 Head Coach of Women's Basketball at Cornell University, has announced the Big Red's schedule for the upcoming 2010-11 season. Along with the ever-challenging Ivy League schedule, the Big Red will face five teams that saw action during the 2009-10 postseason.

“We're excited about the upcoming schedule,” said Smith. “We've added some new teams this season and we're playing several teams that played in the NCAA and WNIT tournaments last year, which should challenge us and help us prepare for Ivy League play.”

For just the second time in Smith's nine-year tenure, Cornell opens the season at home as it plays host to Cleveland State on Nov. 13. The Big Red then hits the road for back-to-back games at Syracuse and Fairfield on Nov. 15 and Nov. 19, respectively.

After a home game against Winston-Salem on Nov. 22, Cornell travels to the Wolverine State to take on Eastern Michigan (Nov. 26) and Oakland University (Nov. 28).

The Big Red returns to New York, but travels to Hamilton to take on Colgate on Dec. 1, serving as its final game before entering a 17-day exam break.

The Big Red will enjoy its first home game in nearly a month when it plays host to Canisius on Dec. 19, before welcoming Manhattan College to Newman Arena on Dec. 21.

Following a short holiday break, Cornell will travel to Bucknell on Dec. 30, before ringing in the New Year against Ithaca College at Newman Arena on Jan. 1.

Cornell will close out its non-conference schedule with three games in a span on six days as it travels to Binghamton on Jan. 3, and then welcomes the University of South Dakota and Longwood University on Jan. 3 and Jan. 6, respectively.

The Ivy League portion of the schedule begins with the home-and-home series vs. Columbia. Cornell travels to New York City on Jan. 15, before playing host to the Lions on Jan. 22. Both games will be part of a double-header with the men's games.

The first full slate of Ivy League games takes place on the following weekend as Cornell welcomes Dartmouth and Harvard to Newman Arena on Jan. 28-29. The Big Red will remain home the following weekend against Yale and Brown on Feb. 4-5.

The Big Red hits the road for a four-game streak with contests at Penn and Princeton on Feb. 11-12, followed by games at Harvard and Dartmouth on Feb. 18-19.

Cornell closes out February at home against Princeton and Penn on Feb. 25-26, before concluding the regular season on the road against Brown and Yale on March 4-5.
