ITHACA, N.Y. – Hilary Gehman, The Staley Head Coach of Women's Rowing, has announced the addition of eight newcomers to the Big Red for the 2010-11 season. The group of seven rowers and one coxswain hail from seven different states and bring great talent and experience to the Cornell squad.
“I'm very excited about the incoming group of freshmen,” said Gehman. “The group includes some rowers who could have an immediate impact on our top boats and the overall talent level will be crucial for putting us in a position for an invitation to the NCAA championships. The Class of 2014 will be one to remember!”

Women's Rowing Class of 2014 Biographies
Emily Bailey – 5-4 – Pennington, N.J.
(Hopewell Valley Central HS)
Bailey rowed for four years at Hopewell Valley Central high school, serving her team both as a rower and a coxswain. She was captain during the 2009-10 season and won her team's Most Dedicated Rower award as a junior.
Vivian Chen – 5-8 – Cincinnati, Ohio
(Phillips Academy)
Chen rowed starboard for four years at Walnut Hills high school and Phillips Academy. She was the winner of the Phillips Academy Team Trophy in 2010 as she helped the crew to a New England Interscholastic Rowing Association Championship gold medal in the varsity-8.
Lily Eisermann – 6-2 – Easthampton, Mass.

Eisermann rowed for four years at Northampton high school and served as team captain during the 2009-10 season.
Anna Hegermiller – 5-11 – Wading River, N.Y.
(Sacred Heart Academy)
Hegermiller was a three-sport athlete at Sacred Heart Academy. She ran cross country all four years and participated in both indoor and outdoor track.
Cammie Meade – 6-0 – McLean, Va.
(McLean HS)
Meade was a three-time letter winner in rowing and was her class valedictorian at McLean high school. She served as the squad's team captain during her senior season and led the Junior 4 boat to the 2008 state championship. She also played basketball for two years. Meade is a member of Thompson's Boat Club.
Virginia Nava – 5-8 – Portland, Ore.

Nava attended Lincoln high school, but rowed as a member of the Rose City Rowing Club. She sat port/starboard for two years and was in the varsity boat for three seasons. She went to the 2009 USRowing Youth National Championships and placed fifth at the Head of the Charles.
Caroline Russ – 6-1 – Buffalo, N.Y.
(Nichols School)
Russ earned four varsity letters rowing port for the Nichols School, serving as team captain during the 2010 season. In 2008, she won her team's Most Improved Rower award. Russ was a three-year letter winner in basketball and earned one letter in volleyball. She helped the basketball team to a 2009-10 MMAA league championship and a No. 1 ranking in Western New York. Russ is also a member of the West Side Rowing Club.
Hannah Wilson – 5-10 – Wilmette, Ill.
(New Trier HS)
Wilson was a four-year letter winner at New Trier high school, serving as team captain during the 2009-10 season. She won three Scholastic national championships, rowing in the varsity-8 boat as a junior, the second varsity-8 as a sophomore and the novice-8 as a freshman. Wilson also earned two letters in basketball.
